Ordering Information

How do I buy a library?

You can purchase all of our libraries online through PayPal using the “Buy Now” link on each library’s homepage. PayPal accepts Visa, MasterCard, Discover, American Express, and transfers from existing bank accounts. After paying, you will be directed to a site where you can download the library. If you prefer not to use PayPal, contact us.

Is there additional sales tax or shipping and handling?

No. The final cost (per developer) appears on each library’s homepage.

How many licenses do I need?

You should buy one copy for each software developer who will use the library. For example, if you have 5 programmers working on a project that will use the Wizard Library, you should purchase 5 licenses. You can purchase additional licenses later if additional members join your development team.

Is there a discount for large orders?

I am not satisfied with a library I purchased. How do I return it?

If you are not satisfied with a library within thirty days of your purchase and have not distributed the library to any consumer, you can return it for a full refund. For a refund, please contact us. By returning the product, you void the license and will not be able to use the library in your applications.

General Information

How do I use the library?

You use one of our libraries as you would any other Java library. Specifically, after unzipping the downloaded file, you include the appropriate .jar file in your classpath and reference public classes and methods in your application. More information can be found in the Readme file included in the download.

What does the license allow me to do?

After purchasing a developer’s license, you are permitted, free of charge, to distribute end-user programs that use the library. You are not allowed to resell the library or to reverse engineer it.

On what platform do the libraries run?

The Print Preview Library, Reports Library, and Wizards Libraries run on any machine that runs the Java 1.4, 5.0, or 6.0 platform. The Dated Collections Library, Marker Bar Library, and Persistence Library require Java 5.0 or 6.0.

Are the libraries available in a programming language other than Java?

Our libraries are only available in the Java programming language. We do not have a C++, C#, or other version.

Is the source code available?

The Dated Collections, Marker Bar, Print Preview, and Wizard Libraries have an option to purchase a source code license in addition to a binary license. For the Report and Persistence Libraries, the source code is currently not available.

Are the libraries available on diskette or CD?

The libraries are currently only available via download.

When will future versions be released?

Side of Software will release a new version when bug fixes require it or when suggested enhancements are ready. If users are completely satisfied with a library’s current functionality and no programming errors remain, we will not develop a new release.

How do I submit a bug report?

If you think you have found a programming error in a library, please notify us. Include as much detail as possible.

How do I get updates to a library?

You will be notified of bug fixes and newer versions via email. If you feel you missed an update email, please contact us.

Does Side of Software offer technical support?

Beyond bug fixes and updates, technical support is not available. Please refer to the documentation included in the distribution and on this website.

How do I request an enhancement?

If you would like to see a feature added to one of our libraries, please tell us about it.

Can I hire Side of Software to implement a feature for my application?

Generally, Side of Software does not consult for other companies. However, if you would like to ensure that a feature that you require makes it into a later version of the library, please contact us.

How can I change my email address on record?

Send an email to info@sideofsoftware.com.

Does Side of Software sell my email address to third parties?

Absolutely not. Please read our privacy policy. You may receive an occasional email directly from Side of Software that details updates to a library or introduces a new library.

Are there mailing lists to which I can subscribe?

At this time there are no mailing lists dedicated to the libraries.
